Giant Birds And Air Monsters of The Mojave

You’re out for a hike in the Mojave Desert and suddenly a huge shadow looms over you – looking up, you see a bird big enough to carry off a child – or bigger…

Possible?

And have there been stories and reports of giant birds and “air monsters” in earlier times – as well as today?

Perhaps…

Now it might surprise you to learn that one of the most frequently commented on personal experiences I get from people in my email are about giant birds or strange flying animals in the Mojave. Yes, some are mothman type entities, like the demon flyer of the Mojave I’ve written about, but most are just “plain” but HUGE birds!

And if you’re into giant birds, then this list of the largest birds in the world might make for some great reading too. You’d be surprised at the size of some of these feather beasties still around in the modern world!

Now you might also be shocked to learn that even CNN recently carried a story about a Neanderthal child who had been eaten by a giant bird, so even our ancestors were dealing with birds who had an appetite for something OTHER than bird seed!

THAT might just make you look up the next time a shadow from above passes over you, huh?

Cheers!

Although his name might sound like something cute and cuddly, this monstrosity was anything but! An old man living alone on the edge of the desert in a remote cabin finds raising rabbits is not without its, interesting aspects…

What comes calling in the night to steal his rabbits? And what happened after he decided to buy a shotgun and attempt to deal with it himself?

Join Author M.L. Behrman for a strange tale of a hairy thief in the night who might just be someone, or something, we have encountered before….

And just WHAT did the old man’s trail cam get a picture of?

If you’ve ever been interested in the idea that some type of unknown hominid might yet exist out in the desert, then here’s some facts you might not be aware of:

Did Native Americans ever report large hairy man-like or ape-like creatures?

Yes, they certainly did, and some of their stories about what they called “the hairy man” might just surprise you in how close it corresponds to tales recounted today from people that have reported seeing or encountering just such a creature.

What are some of the names these desert bigfoot are called?

Obviously, starting off with “Desert Bigfoot” and “The Hairy Man”, they have been called “The Yucca Man”, “The Sand Man” and a favorite because of the stories attached to it – “The Cement Monster” to name just a few.

Did cowboys or people in the Old West see desert apeman and the like?

You’d be surprised how many newspapers of the 1800’s carried stories about desert bigfoot or hairy men. Often called “What is its” and “Prehistoric Throwbacks”. One of my favorite cases from those times was a story called “The Capay Curiosity” and two hunter’s terrifying encounter with it.

Are desert bigfoot dangerous?

Well, in the old stories they could be quite fierce, but I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it if you’re camping out in the Mojave Desert. They wouldn’t have remained undiscovered for so long if they went about hurting people. And according to the old Native American legend about The Hairy Man, he cries because people are scared of him and thus he has to live all alone out in the wilderness by himself!

So remember that next time you see some eyes reflecting back at you while sitting around your campfire out in the desert….

A delicious bit of desert mystery from the great Mojave!

Cheers!
